MASSIVE CROWDS AND A BIG ARRIVAL

It’s the weekend my autistic son is home for the weekend. He is hypersensitive to sound so going into central Hull is madness. So we go anyway. It is four times more busy than it has been all week. Probably because this is the last day of the projections. We park near Hull college there is plenty of work going on in Princess Gardens including the City of Culture emblem reflecting in the now cleaned pond. The swans seem happy. But no sign of anything big. By the time Jake has had his sweets from The Treat Box, we manage a trip to WH Smiths for my ex's regular biking magazine. He has just started a new job as Editor of The Armourer magazine. He leers at a rival title on the shelves. Jake is getting edgy with the volume of people and the noise they are making. We head for the car and pass a decent band playing in the street. Jake demands some chips. The crowds are right from the central platform down all the side streets now. You can’t get a good view of the images with this volume of people. Jake gets to see the start but an absence seizure is building. He has epilepsy. Duncan is in another part of the crowd watching but follows me back to the car. Good job as we have to administer a drug to prevent further seizure happening. By now the traffic is in queues looking for a space. A driver misinterprets me having the door open to give Jake some air and sits in the road for ages waiting for us to go. I am too taken up with Jake over the weekend to visit again at midnight to look for a “big” arrival. News reports to follow.
